Lunch @ Bear & Kilt – Calgary, AB

It’s been years since I’d been to the Bear & Kilt on Stephen Avenue.  Recently, a colleague mentioned that they had delicious pub fare. In particular she raved about the stuffed yorkies so I was really intrigued. The Stuffed Yorkies  ($11) consisted of Yorkshire puddings stuffed with shaved roast beef served over mashed potatoes and topped with gravy.  It also came with a side of zesty horseradish.  These Stuffed Yorkies were the ultimate comfort food. The Yorkshire puddings were fluffy and soft while the shaved roast beef was surprisingly tender.  The mashed potatoes were creamy and smooth.  And everything was topped with the flavourful peppercorn gravy.  I can’t believe that I’d forgotten about the Bear & Kilt all these years. I wish I had discovered this dish sooner as I can’t wait to go back and order this dish again.
