Tutti Frutti Frozen Yogurt is finally opening up in Calgary! I was lucky enough to be invited to the media Sneak-a-Peek event of the 17th Avenue location earlier this week. Tutti Frutti is an international premium soft serve frozen yogurt chain with 20 plus locations across Canada. The first location to open here in Calgary is the one right next to Mount Royal Village, just off 17th Avenue SW. Here are some details about the Grand Opening event taking place this weekend.

In all, there are 10 different flavours to choose from. I really liked how the details for each variety is posted on the sign. The symbols which are bolded indicated whether the yogurt contained dairy, soy, or nuts, etc. There were four non-dairy flavours. Two were made with a soy base and non-fat – the Soy Black Sesame and the Soy Bean Peanut Butter. I can’t say that I’m normally a big fan of soy but in this case, the frozen yogurt made from the soy base was delicious! The Soy Black Sesame was actually one of my favorite amongst all 10 flavors that I sampled.
Next were the sorbets, which are also non-dairy. These are perfect for those who are allergic to soy and are lactose intolerant. The two flavors I tried were the Strawberry Sorbet and the Blueberry Sorbet. Both were very fruity and not overly sweet.
Then came No Sugar Added (NSA) Chocolate and the Salted Caramel. I loved the NSA Chocolate. For those that don’t have a sweet tooth, this is the perfect choice. I could really taste the chocolate.
For the fruity flavours, there were the Pineapple and the Coconut. I used the middle dispenser and managed to get a swirl of the two flavors. I really liked the combination of the two. It was basically pina colada flavored froyo. The tartness of the pineapple balanced nicely with the coconut.
For those who like tart, there were two other varieties – the TF Tart and the Lychee. I really liked the classic TF Tart. The tartness made it really addictive and it’s the perfect flavor to go with a variety of toppings.
I was really impressed at the variety of toppings available. Of course, there was the common candy toppings such as Skittles, Smarties, and gummies as well as fresh fruit.
But my favourite toppings were the fruit flavored boba. There was orange, strawberry, mango, and lychee flavored boba. What was really neat about this boba was that they weren’t the chewy variety that I normally expect in bubble tea drinks. Instead when you gently bite into the boba, you get a little burst of fruity liquid. It was certainly a pleasant surprise. I also loved the mochi topping. It added great texture to the froyo but wasn’t overly sweet.
My friend Anna and I were most impressed with the Soy Black Sesame. It was definitely our favorite. I also liked the classic TF Tart as it complemented the sweet toppings nicely. Tutti Frutti is definitely my go to place for froyo now. I loved the selection. It’s the perfect place to go for dessert with a group of friends as there is something for everyone including those with special dietary needs.
