Leopold’s Ice Cream – Savannah, GA

leopolds_ice_creamAs I was researching for my trip to Savannah, Georgia earlier this year, I stumbled across Leopold’s Ice Cream. Founded in 1919, Leopold’s is an institution in Savannah. All the ice cream is made on the premises in small batches based on family recipes handed down from the original Leopold brothers.

I was really hoping to have the opportunity to check it out while visiting Savannah. As my friend C and I were touring about downtown Savannah, we came upon Leopold’s. It was perfect timing as we were in need of an afternoon snack.

We decided to get a Double Scoop ($4.75) to share. There were easily over 20 flavours to choose from. The flavors we picked were coffee and pistachio. The pistachio was amazing! I could really taste the pistachio flavour in the ice cream. This was easily some of the best ice cream that I’ve ever had. I thought this ice cream from Leopold’s was better than the ice cream I had from Molly Moon’s in Seattle. If you’re visiting Savannah, Leopold’s is definitely a place you should try.
